Teesh’s Frequently Asked Questions

Garment Printing & Production

What is your maximum colour count for printing?

For screen printing, we allow up to 9 colours for our orders. Each individual colour of ink is placed onto each individual screen – layering your design and transferring it onto your garment through the mesh panel.

When it comes to digital printing including DTG and DTF, your colour options are endless. We have no maximum colour count, because digital printing utilises CMYK colour printing. This principle is the same for our Heat Transfers.

What print method should I choose for my order?

Screen Printing is great for large quantity orders for licensed fashion wholesale, merchandise for promotional events and more. The results are durable, vibrant and consistent with our automated machinery. If you’re looking for bulk orders with versatile printing options and effects that can be turned around quickly, then screen printing is likely the best option for you.

If you’re looking for an option with no minimum order quantity or set-up fees, though, then you may want to go for digital printing options. These include direct to garment printing and direct to film printing. Our clients opt for this method when sampling concept approvals, trialling new design drops or creating one of a kind personalised garments.

If it’s embroidery that you’re looking for, then we offer that too. Embroidery is popular with those looking for professional, personalised uniforms, adding embellishments to their printed merchandise and more. Get in touch for a custom quote if you’re looking for embroidery options.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our minimum order quantity is set at 50 units for screen printing, but don’t worry – anything under 50 units can still be printed using direct to garment and heat transfer/direct to film printing methods. Special circumstances may also apply for 25 units in screen printing.

MOQ for embroidery is 50 units. For garment finishing quantity enquiries, get in touch with the team.

Do I need to provide my own blanks?

Nope – you can order your blanks as part of our online ordering process, launching soon. For now, contact the team for garment sourcing. Not only this, but we also have access to trade pricing so your blanks aren’t a hefty additional cost. We’ve got sustainable options, a variety of colour options, premium options and more.

What is an underbase?

When printers put a design onto a dark coloured garment, an underbase is essentially a layer of white ink that acts as a base for your other colours to sit on and layer over. This will ensure the vibrancy and crisp quality of your colours and print are kept to a high quality regardless of the blank garment colour.

Will washing my garments ruin the print?

With all apparel, you want to ensure that the products you’re purchasing and distributing are durable and will not decrease in quality with multiple wash cycles. Using simple steps to ensure your prints stay crisp will keep your products fresh (and clean!):

  • Wash your screen printed garments at cool temperatures
  • Ideally hand wash only
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Do not iron
  • Turn garments inside-out when washing

Teesh does not take responsibility for prints that may become altered due to wash faults.

What sustainable and ethical procedures do you follow?

There is no denying that the apparel industries have increasing amounts of pressure to reduce excess waste, follow sustainable practices and create ethical working environments.

We have access to sustainable options at trade pricing, such as Stanley/Stella blank garments.

We do everything we can to ensure these values are at the forefront of our work ethic and decision-making as our business grows. Some procedures we have had in place from the start, and will not change, are:

  • Recycling any misprints, using them as cleaning rags and testers for printing.
  • Volunteering to SMETA approved annual audits that ensure we are following the ethical base code.
  • Investing in our team, ensuring pay is fair, equal, and reflects the national minimum wage and changes in the economy.
  • Enrolling our staff onto career development courses and supporting progression in the business.
  • Donating overstock or surplus blank garments to charities which will utilise and distribute them effectively.
  • Keeping recycling points around production areas and ensuring waste is disposed of and separated responsibly.

How do I upload artwork?

For Screen Printing:

Ensure your artwork is of a high quality. We recommend vector graphics for this. File formats accepted for screen printing orders are:

  • EPS – Encapsulated PostScript Image
  • AI – Adobe Illustrator
  • PDF (Recommended) – Portable Document Format
  • PSD

Try to avoid:

  • SEG

Upload your artwork when placing your order or requesting a quote. If we haven’t received it, we will contact you directly.

For Direct to Garment and DTF/Heat Transfer Prints

  • PNG File
  • JPEG File

Recommended 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch)

Further tips:

Crop the artboard to the design before sizing. Ensure you’ve used the correct size for printing – send us the file in the size you want it printed

We cannot accept pixelated images and do not take responsibility for bad prints due to bad artwork.

Do you do embroidery?

Yes! Contact the team for a quote.

We do not currently have an online ordering system for embroidery products, but we will respond to emails and form submissions as soon as we can. Try to include as much detail as possible in your enquiry.

Do I need to separate artwork for printing myself?

No – we separate artwork for you which is included in the screen price as part of the set up fee per screen.

We can take already separated artwork by request, however this does not provide a reduction on the standard set up fee.

This does not apply to digital printing, as artwork does not need to be separated!

What’s the cheapest garment printing method?

This really depends on your order requirements. For orders under 25 units, digital printing will be cheapest due to the lack of setup fees, but as your order quantity increases, the print price for screen printing decreases.

How many shirts can you screen print in an hour?

Whilst order unique order specifications should be considered, this would be calculated by our maximum print capacity per day (2,000), divided by our studio working hours. On a standard day in the studio, we should have capabilities for 250 screen prints per hour.

How much does it cost to print a shirt?

This depends on the print method, colour count, design etc. Our pricing structure for screen printing considers a set up fee, blank garment cost, print cost and shipping costs.
